God of War Ragnarok will receive the free DLC named Valhalla. When will it be released?

As a sign of gratitude to the over 15 million gamers who have purchased God of War Ragnarok so far, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio have announced, on the stage of The Game Awards 2023, a free DLC package set to make its appearance for this game. It's called God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla, and its release is scheduled for tomorrow, December 12, 2023.

Designed as an epilogue to the events of God of War Ragnarok, Valhalla will focus on Kratos' journey in the realm beyond death, accompanied only by the head of Mimir. This DLC aims to refresh the combat system in Ragnarok, adding elements characteristic of the roguelite genre.

More specifically, Kratos will face new combinations of enemies and unforeseen elements, with his death equivalent to restarting the action at the gates of Valhalla. In each such attempt, Kratos will accumulate experience and resources that he can invest in acquiring permanent upgrades, which will help him overcome this new challenge.

Although Valhalla will compel Kratos to part with the armors acquired during the main campaign, they will still play a cosmetic role. Throughout this DLC, the fearless Spartan will be able to unlock new skins and cosmetic items, perfect for admiring in the Photo Mode.

Being a DLC primarily focused on combat and gameplay, God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla will offer no less than five difficulty levels, with the rewards Kratos receives being directly proportional to the chosen difficulty level. Players can switch between these difficulties at any time.

Furthermore, access to Valhalla will not be conditioned by completing the main story, so don't worry about the character's level, equipment, or campaign progress. However, there will be certain story and gameplay spoilers, so the producers recommend finishing the main Ragnarok campaign before venturing into the DLC.

Owners of God of War Ragnarok will be able to download the Valhalla DLC for free starting on December 12, 2023. God of War Ragnarok is available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
